Coolers are a must have for any horse owner who makes their horse sweat in the colder weather.  Putting a cooler on your horse after a workout is much like wrapping yourself in a towel after a shower.  The cooler should keep your horse warm while absorbing the moisture away from his skin for that he can dry without getting chills or cramped muscles.

• Washing blankets
  The most important rules for washing a horse blanket...
  1) Check your blanket closely for washing instructions, and follow them closely.
  2) Always use a detergent designed for washing blankets. Waterproofing is washing in by the manufacturers and can easily be washed out by you if you use regular laundry soap.
  3) Always wash your blanket in cold water, as hot or even warm water can also remove waterproofing.
  4) If you're washing a blanket made of wool, you can get a special wash designed for wool or sheepskin products.
  5) Always allow ample time for your blanket to hang dry before you bundle it up and store it away. A damp blanket stored away in the spring equals a mouldy blanket brought out in the fall.
  6) Try to find a bigger washer... stuffing a blanket into a machine that is too small can bad for the machine, the pipes AND the blanket.
  7) Wrap vetwrap around buckles to help keep them from scratching the washing machine.
