Chaps

Chaps are leg coverings that protect a rider while mounted.  Chaps are usually buckled on right over pants and have no seat or crotch.  Chaps are usually made of leather and are most commonly associated with Western riding. 

Half chaps are a popular style of equestrian attire that extend from the ankle to just below the knee. Half chaps can offer the same lower leg protection as a tall boot when worn over a short riding boot. Half chaps usually are made of leather, and have a zipper or hook and loop closure on the outside.  Half chaps are most commonly used by English riders who need protection from pinching stirrup leathers.
