Spurs

A spur is a "tool" or training aid designed to be worn on the heels of riding boots to help direct a horse when moving forward or laterally.  Spurs are most effective when used to refine riding aids or commands that are already well established.  Spurs are used in almost every equestrian discipline, but most equestrian organizations have rules which dictate acceptable spur design and use.  Penalties may apply for using spurs in any manner that constitutes animal abuse, so check legality with your show organizer before assuming a pair of spurs is ok!
