In 1922, George S. Bailey founded the Bailey Hat Company in Los Angeles.  A population explosion was underway in the American West due to a proliferation of cattle ranches, farms, orchards, mines and oil fields.  In addition, Los Angeles-based film studios accounted for almost 1/5th of California's manufacturing business.  Bailey recognized the need for a hat company that catered to the West coast style, but also to the Western wear market.  It wasn't long before he was fashioning hats for Hollywood - including Humphrey Bogart, Cary Grant, Bing Crosby and Gary Cooper.  In fact, many of the current offerings use the same blocks that were originally designed for these elites.  It is the unparalleled quality, craftsmanship and designs that have earned the Bailey Hat Company an exceptional reputation.
